Christmas in Southern Norway offers events, markets and experiences in both towns and rural areas throughout the entire Advent season. Here you will find a wide selection of concerts, activities and traditions that bring the region to life in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
Kristiansand
In Kristiansand, the pre-Christmas season is celebrated with a Christmas market and festive decorations throughout the city, an ice rink at the main square, and many different concerts and events during Advent. The city is lit up with lights and offers a warm and lively atmosphere where people meet to shop for gifts, enjoy Christmas food and experience the festive spirit together.
Every Advent weekend, the main square in Kristiansand fills up with stalls offering everything from Christmas decorations and handicrafts to food and drinks. There are several Christmas markets in the city, including the designers’ Christmas market at Kunstsilo, neighbourhood markets like Grimsvollen and Posebyhaven, the 3D show at the cathedral and much more.
Farsund and Lista
Farsund and Lista have a strong connection to America, which is also reflected in the American-style Christmas spirit at Lista during the pre-Christmas season.

Grimstad
In the charming streets of Grimstad, you’ll find that classic, nostalgic Christmas feeling. There are Christmas markets, exhibitions and concerts. And what else? Grimstad even has its very own Christmas tractor parade that brings festive cheer.
