Observe salmon up close at Norway’s largest aquarium facility for wild North Atlantic salmon, at the Wild Salmon Visitor Centre in Laudal!
The Wild Salmon Visitor Centre in Laudal offers free entry to the entire facility, which includes the aquarium, exhibitions about salmon and other river-related topics, as well as a large outdoor area with a playground and several activities for children.
Take a good shot past the “Bestemor” lighthouse from Sjøsanden beach, swing by “Rogna” (located in the river in the middle of Mandal town center), and other local landmarks. The course is spacious and accessible for strollers and wheelchair users, and it also has several benches for those who need a break along the way.
Mandal Museum has impressive art collections and exhibitions about the town’s history, former maritime trade, and traditional fishing along the Agder coast. The Vigeland House, the childhood home of the artist brothers Gustav and Emanuel Vigeland, is also part of Mandal Museum. During the summer season, there are also activities for children, including activity kits, treasure hunts, and other fun experiences.

Visit the living museum factory Sjølingstad Woollen Mill, which has the status of a national memorial to Norway’s textile industry.
Sjølingstad Woollen Mill has its own power plant, dye house, spinning mill, weaving mill, and finishing department. On guided tours, various machines and production processes used in making wool products are demonstrated, and these products can also be purchased in the museum shop.
At Ballastbrygga Industrial History Center, you can learn about Mandal’s history through various activities, exhibitions, and stories about the town’s fascinating industrial heritage and coastal culture.
