Winter in Arendal

In winter, Arendal transforms into a charming winter destination with a variety of unique activities and experiences. Crisp air and a low winter sun give the town a special atmosphere – perfect for short breaks, leisurely strolls, and cosy moments outdoors.

In the town centre, soft winter lighting in streets and narrow lanes creates a warm and welcoming feel. You’ll also find an ice rink right in the heart of the city, with free skate rental – an easy and accessible winter activity for all ages. Take a few laps on the ice, meet friends, and enjoy true winter joy with the city as your backdrop.

Just outside the city lies Raet National Park, offering open coastal landscapes, smooth rock formations and trails that provide powerful nature experiences even in winter. When weather and snow conditions allow, the areas around Arendal also offer many kilometres of groomed, floodlit cross-country ski trails – perfect for skiing in calm, scenic surroundings. A gentle reminder that Arendal is worth experiencing all year round.
