Experience Farsund and Lista in two days

Farsund and Lista offer open coastal landscapes, rich history and small-town charm. Discover lighthouses, birdlife and scenic cycling routes along the coast, or visit historic sites that tell the story of life by the sea. There is also time to slow down in the town centre, enjoy a coffee at a local bakery or spend quiet moments by the water. This itinerary suggests two days of experiences that balance activity and relaxation, while introducing what makes the area truly special.

Day 1:

The first day in Farsund and Lista focuses on active outdoor experiences, with cycling, hiking and coastal views. The day ends with a good meal and an overnight stay, giving you time to recharge for the next day.

Cycling in Farsund

Start the day by experiencing Farsund and Lista from the saddle. The Vita Velo Vest-Lista cycle route follows the coastline, taking you through open landscapes where nature and culture meet along the way. Bike rental includes e-bikes, standard bikes and children’s bikes. Bicycles can be picked up at Lista Lighthouse and, during the summer months, also at the tourist office in Farsund. For planning, an overview map of cycling routes is available, with tips for suggested rides and stages along the route.

Discover history at Lista Museum

Next stop is Lista Museum, where you can explore how life on Lista has developed over time. The museum features historic buildings, exhibitions and collections that tell the story of everyday life, seafaring and coastal culture. A walk through the traditional farmsteads feels like stepping back in time, offering a close encounter with the people and history that have shaped the area.

Unwind after an active day

As the day comes to an end, there are several great places to stay. Farsund Fjordhotell is located by the fjord, offering rooms with water views and easy access to the town centre. For a more distinctive experience, choose Lista Lighthouse, where an overnight stay brings you close to the sea, the light and the coastal landscape.

Day 2:

The second day allows time to experience life on the water, combined with calm and wellbeing. Enjoy fishing and activities at Farsund Resort, relax at the bathhouse, and round off the day with dinner.

Farsund Resort – experiences on and by the sea

The main reasons to visit Farsund Resort are its close proximity to the sea, good fishing opportunities and the option to rent a boat and explore the archipelago. The resort is known for its sturdy boats, fish cleaning facilities and well-equipped amenities for anglers, while also offering plenty of activities for the whole family. Enjoy walks in the surrounding area, spend time on the pier or simply relax and take in the views. It is an ideal base for both active stays and peaceful moments by the water.

Farsund Bathhouse and Sauna

Farsund Bathhouse has been the town’s public bathing place since 1870 and remains a popular spot for relaxation and wellbeing. Sit in the warmth while looking out over the fjord, then take a refreshing dip in the sea just outside. The contrast between heat and cold makes the experience special, and the sauna is open to everyone with easy drop-in access.
