We all felt it. How life just flew by. Weekdays filled with work, cooking dinner, homework, driving to activities before finally passing out on the sofa from exhaustion. And by all means, life consists mostly of everyday life. But we missed the small, good moments. Just us girls. Talk about everything and nothing. Laugh and reminisce. Treat yourself to something you've wanted for a long time. Dress up and feel extra nice. Enjoy good food and drink.

We needed a little breathing room in everyday life.

We decided to take a girls' weekend in Kristiansand, where we met during our studies. Here there are trains to both east and west. We already felt the butterflies in our stomachs when we met at the train station. We were 22 years old again, and the laughter was loose.

It felt like the last 20 years hadn't happened! The joy of seeing each other was great, and the mobile phone was used extensively to take selfies.

Kristiansand is a beautiful city, with lots of exciting street art. After we had checked into the hotel, we bought ourselves a cup of good coffee and went to admire the city's artwork. There are plenty of Insta-spots here!

Musikkens hus  is one of the iconic buildings in the city, and houses the Knuden cultural school. Cathrine was with a handsome music teacher who worked here, so she has many good memories from here!

We also passed by the idyllic Fiskebrygga, with cozy restaurants and its own ice cream bar.

We rounded off the evening with a glass of wine in bed in our gorgeous hotel room at the Clarion Hotel Ernst, giggling as we looked through the photos on our mobile phones. So many beautiful moments!

Six good reasons to take a girl's trip to Kristiansand:

  1. Everyday life quickly becomes routine, and a little break does wonders for body and soul
  2. The children benefit from being alone with dad or grandparents/another babysitter
  3. Kristiansand is easily accessible from other cities in Norway
  4. It is easy to get around the city, and everything is within walking distance
  5. Kristiansand is a vibrant cultural city, with over a hundred cultural events a year
  6. The city has a mild climate, which makes it nice to visit all year round

We woke up fresh and refreshed on Saturday morning, and started with breakfast in bed. So luxury!

Coffee, fresh rolls and freshly cut fruit. The best start to the day!

Frokost

We got our day planned, where we wanted to start with a tour of the city's many shops.

In Kristiansand you will find both niche shops and well-known brands. The city also has three indoor shopping centers that you can pull into if it rains.

Shopping

We had a lot of fun trying on different outfits, and we all bought ourselves something nice to wear the same evening. Then it's Girls Night out!

Lunch was taken at the town's vegan restaurant, Spiren cafe. Here there is a cozy backyard, and the food is incredibly good!

Kristiansand has a mild climate, which means that you can sit in the city's outdoor restaurants from early spring to late autumn. Starting with a glass in the sun with the cathedral nearby was absolutely magical!

We had booked a table at Torvet Bistro, which is located on Torvet and specializes in French food made from scratch.

There was also time for a drink in the city's rooftop bar, Club 21 at the Radisson Blue Caledonien hotel. Here you have a panoramic view of the city!

Other activities in Kristiansand:

Kilden Teater og Konserthus is Norway's second largest concert hall and offers a wide selection of concerts and performances throughout the year.

Have you tried Glowing Golf before? This is fun for both children and adults, mini golf in the dark provides a completely new experience!

AQ Spa contains four saunas, showers, foot bath and hot water pool. Balm for body and soul!

After a delicious breakfast at the hotel on Sunday morning, we were ready to step out of our comfort zone! We are all a bit skeptical about heights, but there is little better than the feeling of mastery when you have challenged yourself!

At Sørlandet Klatresenter on Odderøya we were able to borrow equipment and got the help we needed to get started!

When we went back to the hotel to pack our bags, we were full of joy and inspiration! Together we had created many new memories that we take back with us into everyday life. We all agreed that it wouldn't be long until the next time.

We need a breather in everyday life!
