I wanted to surprise Kristin with a weekend trip to Kristiansand for her birthday. We have been to Kristiansand before, and then we had an absolutely fantastic time. On this trip, there will be some reminiscing, but I have also included some new surprises. For example, the fact that you can take a boat from the airport into the city. We love boating, and it was fantastic to meet Kristiansand via the archipelago.
We topped it all off with bubbles and finger food which we enjoyed. Boat transport from Kjevik to the city can be ordered from Blått senter, which also offers several exciting boating experiences in the archipelago.

The room had a fantastic view of the beach!
- Aren't we going to take a bath tomorrow morning? Kristin exclaims with a sly look. And who can say no to such a challenge?

A glass of wine in the hotel bar was a perfect start to the evening before the tour continued.

Kristiansand is absolutely magical in autumn. Bright, mild evenings at the same time as the city shines. We strolled up the main street Markens while watching life.

We are both fond of art, and took a trip to Kristiansand Kunsthall. They always have such exciting exhibits! In addition, they have a fantastic location above the city's library, and from their glass elevator you have a great view of Torvet.

We had booked a table at Bønder i byen for the evening. Here, the focus is on short-traveled food and local dishes, and the atmosphere is absolutely fantastic!

Five tips for couple activities on a weekend trip:
Take a refreshing morning bath before breakfast
Put different activities in a bowl and draw what you will do. Can be go-karting, golf, climbing and the like.
Take a bike ride, pack a lunch and enjoy it at a great vantage point
When you eat: tell your partner something you haven't told before, a secret future dream or similar.
See a show or go to a concert
The next day we woke up after a good night's sleep at the hotel. With Kristin's challenge from the day before fresh in our minds, we put on our bathrobes and strolled out on the beach! It was absolutely fantastic to start the day with a refreshing bath!

Then we could enjoy a delicious breakfast at the hotel. Fresh bread, eggs and bacon, lots of tasty cold cuts and freshly brewed coffee made us prepared for a new day!

Afterwards we were ready to explore the city! At the hotel they have bicycles for loan, and in Kristiansand there are many great hiking areas you can cycle to: Baneheia, Ravnedalen, Odderøya to name a few.

Tips for experiencing Kristiansand:
For art lovers:
Kristiansand is a single large gallery with exciting street art everywhere in the city. You can also visit Bi-Z or Art Gallery Linn for more works, or visit Kristiansand art gallery. Odderøya is a pearl that houses several local artists. In 2024, the city's new art museum Kunstsilo will also open, and in the evening you can see a performance or enjoy a concert at Kilden Theater and concert hall.
For nature lovers:
The city is surrounded by several scenic pearls, such as Odderøya, Baneheia, Jegersberg and Ravnedalen. You can either go on foot, or rent a bicycle or scooter. If you want to take the trip a little outside the city centre, Kristiansand has well-functioning bus services. Check timetables here.
For foodies:
Southerners love good food and drink, and Kristiansand is a living example of that! Start at the iconic Fiskebrygga where you can admire the delicacies of the sea in the stylish glass cases at Reinhartsen. You can get delicious fish meals at Fiskebrygga's restaurants. Then head to Posebyhaven where you will find the city's only pure sourdough bakery. In the backyard of Spiren cafe you can enjoy vegan food in the atmospheric backyard. If you have a sweet tooth, you can "enjoy a blaudis" at one of the city's many bakeries.
