As a part of the process of making Setesdal a sustainable tourist destination, several charging stations for electric vehicles have been installed along the main road RV 9. The latest addition is the new, large car park in the centre of Hovden.
Travelling through Setesdal you will find charging points in Evje, Bygland, Rysstad, Valle, Bykle and Hovden.
There are also two Tesla Supercharging stations, in Bygland and in Hovden. In Bygland it is located next to the museum. The new charging station in central Hovden has no less than 12 Tesla charging points (Superchargers) in addition to rapid charging points from the energy supplier Eviny.
The Setesdal Regional Council has worked diligently to install rapid charging points in the valley, with support from the Aust-Agder County Council and the state-owned green energy company Enova.
The Regional Council consists of the four municipalities in Setesdal, and they have worked systematically on this project since 2015. The purpose has been to electrify the transportation sector in Setesdal, and it is now possible to travel from Kristiansand to Hovden with all kinds of EVs. Combined with the road E134 there is an EV charging corridor both from Oslo in the east to Haugesund in the west and to Kristiansand in the south.
Bykle (where Hovden is located) is of one Norway’s largest «hydropower municipalities», and it is therefore natural to use local energy for this climate-friendly and innovative project.
