Overview

The museum has a wonderful location at Høgtun Kultursenter in the village of Øyslebø.

There are exhibitions on local culture and everyday life in the valley. Exhibits include rose-painted furniture, Norwegian national dress, drinking vessels, and stable and hunting equipment. The museum also includes a large collection of sculptures by Sigurd Nome. Mjålandsstova, an open air museum in the same complex, consists of a courtyard, farmhouse, storehouse and cowshed. The farmhouse contains the only remaining rose-painted living room in the county, and is furnished with fittings and objects from the 1880s. The log house with the open hearth is from the 17th century.
